Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

1x1 hook jumps

Hello everyone, I am Mr23648!

1x1 hook jumps are basically hook jumps, but the space that you are jumping in is only 1 block high, therefore you must try to hover and jump.

However, I don't know how to do a 1x1 hook jump, and I don't do 1x1 hook jumps often.

How can I get better at doing them?

1x1 hookjumps are the atrocity of minigames, ignore them.

Re: 1x1 hook jumps

You just have to learn the timing. Don't do them slow, you need enough momentum to go far enough without falling. Repeat forever

Re: 1x1 hook jumps

Well, play more EE. I used to be unable to do 1x1 hooks too, but now I can easily do it. Practice makes perfect //ee.failforums.me/img/smilies/tongue

Re: 1x1 hook jumps

Here's an explanation of how the 1x1 hook jump works. When you press the jump button, the game checks if you can jump then the jump physics is applied which affects the smiley next tick (0.01 seconds later). The delayed jump happens even if you move off the ground, so if you press it within the perfect 0.01 seconds you're last on the ground you can seemingly jump mid-air.

If you hold space (and wait after the 0.75 seconds holdspace delay), the game will try to make you jump if more than 0.15 seconds have passed since the last jump. That makes 15 ticks, so if you hold space and move out the hook there's about a 1 in 16 (or 15?) chance you'll jump from it. I think. I haven't actually tested this but I think that's how it works.

Depending on how you want to face a hook jump, you can either try to time your jump a 0.01 second window or hope you'll get lucky.

edit:
The jump delay explanation comes from what I found while I'm trying recreate EE. Based on some tests, the physics seem to be fully accurate to the original EE. However, I haven't yet recreated the holdspace mechanics.

In the actual EE, I made a setup where I hold space moving right until there's a 1x1 hook jump. If I make the same button-hold movement every time it unpredictably works or it doesn't. Either my simulation is wrong, or the timer is affected by other factors. I think this is because holdspace timer is based off Unix time rather than in-game ticks, so if EE lags even 0.01 of a second behind then it goes off-sync with the Unix time.

Re: 1x1 hook jumps

well there is alos these 1x1 holes (fif you time these correct aswell you skip a frame and can basically ksip an 1x1 wide hole and advance) i used to hate both these and th ehook sbut i used to be a bit better at the hooks then these holes its a matter of ksippign a frame to advance
