Admit it, there will be two splitted communities and chaos on forums.

Peace's posts don't look like what someone with bad english would write, or even what a kid with bad spelling would write. He often gets all the right characters but they just end up in the wrong order. It actually just looks like a bunch of typos, so I've always imagined that peace just writes all his posts at 150wpm and doesn't proofread (judging by the quality of his posts, probably doesn't spend long reading the posts he replies to either). Doesn't he ever look at his posts and see how poorly they are written? I feel like he's a troll but I wonder what mental illness would be required to troll like this.

Well, what I've seen in the past year is that peace ignores any posts that tell him to fix his grammar, so I'd say the typos are intentional. The only time he ever noticed his grammar was when he wrote " get sperma banned"

Not gonna happen.

Does that mean that I can just spam the forum mercilessly, and if anyone doesn't like it they should shut up because no one is forcing them to read my garbage?

Why do we need rules at all then

Re: Add the ability to fully mute someone on the forum

I've taken another look at the rules and warning definitions, and there's nothing there that applies to people like Peace and Nightmore. Spam comes closest with its "Posting nonsensical or incomprehensible content", but for that to apply I'd need to have seen the user regularly writing with good English and therefore know that semi-illegible posts are an exception.

So - in my opinion - the current ruleset doesn't have scope for punishing users with permanently bad English. If you want a "good English pls" rule for me to enforce, make another thread to discuss it.

Diff doesn't seem inclined to add this feature, which is why he mentioned user scripts, but I couldn't find anything like that with the search tool.

I said "not gonna happen" because Diff isn't particularly inclined to add any feature nowadays, let alone one that only a handful of people will use.

I tell people to ignore the posts because it's what I do, most of the time.

Throw this in ViolentMonkey or GreaseMonkey and it'll block the users you insert into "let blockedIDs = [];". So if you wanted to block Tomahawk and me, you'd put "let blockedIDs = [2, 380];"

let blockedIDs = [];
if (blockedIDs.length > 0) {
	let blockSelector = ".uid"+blockedIDs.join(", .uid");

	for (let postUsername of document.querySelectorAll(".uid144")) {
		let post = postUsername.closest(".blockpost");
		let id = post.id;
		post.style.display = "none";

		post.insertAdjacentHTML("beforebegin", '<div id="p'+id+'" class="blockpost"><div class="box"><div class="inbox"><div class="postmsg"><p>This post by '+postUsername.innerHTML+' has been hidden</p></div></div></div></div>');
		let placeHolder = document.getElementById("p"+id);
		placeHolder.style.textAlign = "center";

		placeHolder.addEventListener("click", function() {
			this.style.display = "none";
			post.style.display = "block";
		}, true);
	}
}

Diff you're putting a bandaid on a brain tumor; your solution doesn't fix the underlying problem.

But all right, let's play by your rules. I'm going to spam the forum with the most vile images and videos I can find, and if you don't like it, just use GreaseMonkey to block me and tell everyone who doesn't like it either to do the same. You are not allowed to ban me or stop me in any way.

I don't think him acting like a child is the underlying issue here. We are trying to improve your forums, our forums, not simply 'acting like children'. Would you like it if I spammed every single, every single one of the topics with pure garbage?

****, there is literally nothing, absolutely nothing that prevents him to edit his posts, just time.

Luka is right there.

It's one person with Parkinsons. You all should be able to deal with one person with Parkinsons.

As far as I am aware, it's involuntary. Unless he's doing it on purpose to disrupt the forums (like you all are for some reason planning/threatening/whatever to do) then I don't know what you guys expect to happen to him. A rule to add a minimum requirement for English spelling ability is not a solution.

Re: Add the ability to fully mute someone on the forum

Okay I'm obviously bluffing. I'd never actually raid the forums like that. But it gets the point across. Sweeping a problem under the rug won't fix it.

I genuinely don't believe that peace has any issues that make him physically unable to write properly. For one, peace understands what others have written without much issue.

Two, peace isn't as bad at spelling as he might seem. He gets all the letters correct, it's just that they're often shifted one space to the left or right. That implies that peace knows how to spell, but he's typing really quickly and without even reading what he writes, which makes his posts the way they are.

Three, he has stated in the past that he doesn't have dyslexia or any disease of that type.

Four, peace joined the forums around the same time as I have, and during that time, he and I were on par in terms of spelling and post structure. However, there's no doubt that I have improved massively since 2015, while peace has remained stagnant. There's just no way around it - peace is lazy and refuses to write properly. That's something that he should be held accountable for.

And that brings me over to another issue I have - blatant favoritism from forum staff. There's plenty of **** that people like peace and Anatoly get away with that wouldn't be tolerated if done by someone else.

I get that you want to protect the more 'victimized' members of our community, but being a victim shouldn't give them get-out-of-jail-free cards.

I'm not sweeping anything, I believe there's nothing to be done wrt peace. There's no ideal solution. There's not even a half-decent one. I'll ask again, what do you guys expect to happen here that would actually fix anything?

It isn't. But the constant witchhunting is a much bigger problem IMO.

There wouldn't be any witch hunting in a first place if he didn't do that ****. He can write properly on Everybodyedits, why not the forums?

Re: Add the ability to fully mute someone on the forum

I have no idea, I've never seen peace in-game. If we're being perfectly honest you all would find someone else to witch hunt, like it's always been done. When it wasn't peace or anatoly or soniiety or whirl it was someone else. Still none of that answers "what do you do want to happen now?" Nobody has a sane answer. He's not breaking the rules and purposefully disrupting the forums. No rule I can think of can be created that isn't completely insane.

Re: Add the ability to fully mute someone on the forum

I'm going to make a confession.
I really don't care if Peace has bad english.
The only time i react is if he wants to host a mafia game or something, as good grammar is kind of necessary when you want to host such a big event. But if he just posts some random garbage i can usually 90% understand what he says and that's not a big problem for me. I'm actually sort of used to reading bad english due to the years of using bad machine translations to understand Japanese visual novels. It's almost like a art in itself, the power to decipher garbled text and turning it into something that makes the most amount of sense.
